The AAO’s Professional Development Committee and Institutional Development Committee co-present:
Town Hall on the Monetary Appraisal of Archives in Canada (Ontario)
In response to changes in the guidelines for the monetary appraisal of archives for cultural property status; the development of Masterclasses at the National Archival Appraisal Board and new templates for conducting panel-based appraisals; and, some more organized attempts at conducting in-house group appraisals within archival networks and larger institutions, the present is a good time to take a collective look at the practice of monetary appraisal of archives in Canada. Let’s examine the state of Canada’s multi-faceted monetary appraisal landscape together and answer some of your burning questions: How does one go about setting up an appraisal network? What is on the curriculum for the NAAB Masterclass? How hard is it to get an archival appraisal done for CCPERB these days? How much is my complete back catalogue of Archivaria journals worth? No question is too small or too large that we won’t tackle it! Simon Rogers and Curtis Sassur will host a half-day open forum, with short presentations on a number of recent issues in monetary appraisal and a lengthy question and answer session. The live session will be hosted at the University of Guelph.
Please note this session will be focusing on an institutional setting.
