This half-day workshop will introduce archivists to the principles and practicalities of editing Wikipedia and adding links to online archival resources to the site. It covers both theoretical and practical elements and will equip attendees with the confidence to make the most of Wikipedia as a tool for sharing archival materials. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

• Learning how to create a Wikipedia account

• Basics of editing Wikipedia articles

• Creating links in Wikipedia

• Wikipedia and Archives

The workshop will be instructed by archivists Danielle Robichaud and Amanda Hill.

*Please bring a laptop along for workshop exercises.

Cost: Per workshop $65 + HST for AAO members and $95 per workshop for non-members. Minimum participation is 10 for this workshop with a maximum set at 25.

NOTE: Following the workshop, the AAO will be hosting our first-ever Wikipedia Edit-a-thon from 2 to 5 pm focused on the improvement or creation of pages related to Ontario's archives and archival collections.
