Social Events 2011 AAO Conference Thunder Bay
The Conference will begin with an opening reception at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. Participants will be bused to the event from the conference hotel. The reception will include a short program, welcoming everyone to Thunder Bay. A cash bar and Hors D'oeuvres will be served. This will be a great opportunity to socialize while viewing the many local and aboriginal artworks on display. Buses will return everyone to the Prince Arthur hotel at 9:30pm. Those wishing to stay out later may want to check out the many restaurants bars nearby.
The banquet will be held in the Prince Arthur Hotel following the afternoon sessions. The cash bar will be open at 6:00. It will feature a ceremony and drum circle from a northwestern Ontario aboriginal group, as well as a few short presentations. The dinner buffet will include many regional and unique items, such as a local cheese display, pan fired pickerel, and a bison carvery. Following the banquet participants may wish to continue socializing in the hotel's bar, or in one of the many bars within walking distance
